Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On — Revitalise DWR for Waders & Rain Jackets

Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On is the preferred product for restoring Durable Water Repellency (DWR) on breathable waterproof garments. Moreover, when outer fabrics absorb water they can lose up to 70% of their breathability, causing clamminess. Therefore, renewing the DWR keeps rain out while letting moisture vapour escape—so you stay dry and comfortable.

Why You Should Use It

Your gear might be “wetting out” due to dirt or residues from conventional detergents. First clean with Nikwax Tech Wash®; if the garment is new or recently proofed, cleaning alone may revitalise the DWR. Once heavily worn, re-proof with TX.Direct® Spray-On after cleaning to restore water beading and breathability.

When You Should Use It

Use TX.Direct when water stops beading on the face fabric, breathability feels reduced, or after extended use in wet conditions. The formula restores DWR while maintaining the fabric’s ability to breathe—ideal for waders, rain shells and other waterproof layers.

HOW YOU SHOULD USE IT

1. Remove all non-washable parts and clean first with Nikwax Tech Wash®. No need to dry before proofing.
2. Protect the work surface. Lay the clean garment flat and zip all zips.
3. Hold the bottle about 15 cm / 6 in from the fabric and spray evenly over the outer surface.
4. Wait ~2 minutes, then wipe away excess with a damp cloth; check carefully for any missed areas.
5. After several minutes, remove any remaining surplus with a damp cloth.
6. Air dry, or tumble dry on low if allowed by the care label.
