The primary target species on this trip is the peacock bass. There are, however, an additional 14 other species of fish that can be targeted.

Peacock bass are a beautiful fish with vivid colours and seem to be born with a bad attitude. As an apex predator in the Amazon ecosystem, they are willing to take a fly and when hooked, give a good account of themselves. Fish average in size between 10lbs and 15lbs and trophy fish might be as large as 20lbs. They are targeted using floating lines with poppers  and other top-water flies. This type of surface fishing is exhilarating and can be some of the most exciting fishing you will ever experience. Other tactics will include the use of sink tip lines with Clouser-style flies as well as fast sinking lines where deeper water is encountered.

Big, Strong, Wild Peacock Bass

In addition to peacock bass, there are 14 other species that can be targeted using flies. These include payara, piranha, pacu, arowana, and numerous other exotic species found throughout the region. If you would like to experience all the Amazon has to offer, then you can target these additional species. However, the excitement of targeting peacock bass is hard to beat and most anglers choose to concentrate solely on this species.

Pristine Jungle and No Biting Insects

The Amazon jungle habitat in this area is pristine and untouched, and the entire area is devoid of human habitation. Accommodation is top-notch. The food is outstanding and the fishing is nothing short of spectacular! What’s more there are no biting insects due to the tannin content of the water.

Guests fly into the jungle via floatplane where they transfer to a unique, floating lodge which moves constantly to provide access to unfished and productive fishing waters. This mobile river train consists of individual luxury cabins as well as a comfortable communal lounge and dining area and is powered by a shallow-draft tug that can penetrate all but the shallowest of headwaters.
