Frontier Fly Fishing is the brainchild of two avid fly-fishermen, Dean Riphagen and Tom Lewin. The company was formed in 2002 with the express vision of shaking up the South African fly-fishing market and bringing a new generation of fly-shop to the local market.

The evolution of Frontier Fly Fishing
Since 2002 Frontier Fly Fishing has grown into much more than a stand-alone retail fly-shop – it has evolved into three separate businesses comprising a retail- (Frontier Fly Fishing), wholesale- (Frontier Distribution – the largest of the three divisions) and a fly-fishing travel operation. Since 2002 Frontier Fly Fishing’s retail and wholesale operations have grown to become the largest of their kind in South Africa. The company is the sole distributor of almost every major American fly-fishing brand, including Sage, Abel, Ross Reels, Simms, C&F Designs, Tiemco, Scientific Anglers, Waterworks Lamson and Whiting, to name a few.
Frontier Fly Fishing has its retail and wholesale base in the heart of the Sandton CBD in Gauteng, and is ideally located to serve the needs of Johannesburg-based fly-fisherman. The company distributes its brands countrywide to dealers throughout South Africa, and through its online store is able to serve the needs of fly-fishermen in outlying areas where no specialist fly-shops are present.
